Queer wedding extravaganza at an aquarium
Abby and Carling had a laid-back, intimate autumn wedding at an aquarium. Yup, I said aquarium. 🙂
Getting ready at a Bed and breakfast
Before the ceremony, the couple hung out at a nearby B&B, relaxing with friends, as they got ready for the wedding. They kept the preparations casual, not hiding from each other before the wedding. Since most of their friends and family knew each other, they all hung out together. Before the ceremony, they took the time to write each other a personal letter that they would read on their own (a lovely idea!). Finally, with nails done and bow ties tied, they all headed to a family home for casual drinks on the back porch and some family photos on the lawn.
A sea lion show
Once all the guests arrived at the aquarium for the wedding, kids and grown-ups alike were thrilled to enjoy a special sea lion show.
Wedding couple portraits
For the wedding couple’s portraits, we headed to the outdoors grounds of the aquarium, which was a mysterious mix of fake rock structures and wooden pathways. It felt a little X-files to me!
Nighttime wedding ceremony
As evening fell, Carling and Abby were married in a quirky and very heartfelt wedding ceremony, among their friends and family, under the stars and under the watchful eye of a beluga whale. Their ceremony was officiated by a friend and there was much laughter and tears!
Aquarium wedding reception
The wedding reception was held indoors in a dimly-lit blue hall, where aquariums glowed along the walls. Abby rolling up her sleeves and Carling traded her heels for Converses for a casual and cute first dance. And then the guests danced among the fishes and sea turtles and jellyfish.
