A nature-filled wedding at La Toundra, Parc Jean-Drapeau
After loving the vibe of Marie-Hélène and Louis’s creative engagement session in the Plateau, I knew their wedding was going to be unique. It turned out to be a beautiful celebration with plenty of touches of whimsy.
An outdoor wedding ceremony at La Toundra
The ceremony was held outdoors among the tall pines and flowers in the Jardin du Canada at Parc Jean-Drapeau.
As family and friends waited for the ceremony to begin, they were serenaded by Ensemble Tryade, a live string quartet, playing a mix of classical music and pop favourites.
Marie-Hélène and her father walked in to the sounds of “Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey. Louis’s sister officiated the wedding service, making it personal, funny and emotion-filled.
Parc Jean-Drapeau wedding photos
After the ceremony and a special champagne toast, we headed to the nearby Jardin du Québec for a tranquil portrait session with the bride and groom. The Jardin du Québec has a very natural feel, with lush greenery taking centre stage rather than flowers.
La Toundra wedding reception
The wedding reception was held indoors at La Toundra. It’s one of my favourite Montreal wedding venues with its floor-to-ceiling windows that give it amazing natural lighting and that let guests enjoy the surrounding greenery.
Special DIY wedding touches
One of the unique standouts of this wedding was the glorious DIY-ery! Most of the décor was made by the wedding couple, from tiny moss gardens in jars to gold spray-painted dinosaur escort cards. A lot of work went into the eclectic collection of bottles and candleholders that graced each table.
Hosting your wedding at La Toundra means planning your own catering. The wedding couple chose to make the most of this opportunity and brought in Antonin Mousseau-Rivard, chef and owner of Le Contemporain. The platings were artistic and the food a gastronomical delight. What a treat for their guests!
As night fell, the dancing began and we had a blast photographing the party!
Big thanks to my second photographer John Koo for his excellent work.
